⚠️ Nikah and Civil Marriage Procedure in Quebec
We guide you through every step of your union, ensuring full compliance with both the Quebec Civil Code and the principles of Islamic Nikah.
Here’s how the process works:
📄 Step 1: Marriage Publication
Once we receive your documents, we begin the official publication process:
- Meeting with the officiant to verify your documents
- Choosing the date and location of the ceremony
- Completing the notice of marriage, to be published on the website of the Directeur de l’état civil du Québec
- A witness is required to validate the information provided
⏳ The legal publication period is 20 days before the ceremony.
🕌 Step 2: On the Day of the Ceremony
Your wedding day combines both the civil and religious aspects of marriage:
- Official reading of articles from the Quebec Civil Code
- Signing of the declaration of marriage
- Nikah ceremony, conducted according to Islamic rites
- Two witnesses must be present to sign the declaration and validate the Nikah
- A copy of the marriage declaration is immediately provided to the couple
- The fee is $350 for a wedding held at the mosque. For special arrangements, please contact us directly.
📬 After the Ceremony
- The officiant submits the marriage declaration to the Directeur de l’état civil
- Within a few weeks, you will receive a confirmation letter of your marriage registration
- You can then request your official marriage certificate:
